Ordered, That Mr. Newbold and Mr. Lambert, or either of them, be a Committee to join the Committee of the Houfe of Affembly for the Pur pofe mentioned in the foregoing Meﬂhge; and that Mr. Haring do wait on the Houfe of Affembly, and acquaint them therewith.

Excerpt from A Journal of the Proceedings of the Legislative-Council of the State of New-Jersey: Convened in General Assembly at Trenton, on Tuesday the 23th Day of October, 1792, Being the First Sitting of the Seventeenth Session

Thomas Henderson, Esquire, produced a Certificate of his being duly elected a Member of this House, which was read and approved, and he thereupon took and subscribed the Oaths required by Law before James Linn, Esquire, and took his Seat in Council.

James Linn, Charles Beardslee, John Lambert, John Condit, Samuel Randolph, and Samuel Ogden, Esquires, severally produced Certificates of their being duly elected Members of this House, which were read and approved, and they thereupon took and subscribed the Oaths required by Law before Thomas Henderson, Esquire, one of the Members returned for this House, and took their Seats in Council.

Joseph Ellis and John Black, Esquires, severally produced Certificates of their being duly elected Members of this House, which were read and approved, and they thereupon took and subscribed the Affirmations required, by Law before Thomas Henderson, Esquire, and took their Seats in Council.

The Honourable Thomas Henderson, Esquire, was unanimously elected Vice-President of the Council pursuant to the Constitution, and he thereupon took the Oath of Office, and was seated in the Chair.

Thomas Adams was unanimously elected Clerk of the Council, and took the Oath of Office accordingly.

John West was appointed Door-Keeper.

Ordered That Mr. Condit do wait on the House of Assembly, and acquaint them that a sufficient Number of Members of this House have met, elected the Honourable Thomas Henderson, Esquire, Vice-President, and proceeded to Business.

The House adjourned until three o'Clock, P. M.

The House met. - Present as before.

Mr. Condit reported, that he had obeyed the Order of the House.

Mr. Anderson, from the House of Assembly, acquainted this House that a Quorum of the House of Assembly had met and elected the Honourable Silas Condid, Esquire, their Speaker.

Abraham Kitchel, Esquire, produced a Certificate of his being duly elected a Member of this House, which was read and approved, and he thereupon took and subscribed the Oaths required by Law before the Vice-President, and took his Seat in Council.

Mr. Kitchel having given his Reasons for Non-attendance until this Day, Resolved, That they are satisfactory.

The House adjourned until To-morrow Morning ten o'Clock.

Thursday, October 30, 1794.

The House met. - Present as before.
