This 18th of Feb. 1658, at a' meet ing Of Thomas Hinckley, Henry Cob, Isaac Robinson and Thomas Lothrop, for perusing ye old town book and recording such material, useful orders as they find therein into this Town Book cancelling ye rest according to an order bearing date Octr 15, 1649. The 14th of Oct., 1649:
Ordered by ye Inhabitants That Henry Cob, Isaac Robinson, Thomas Lothrop and Thomas Hinckley, do peruse ye old Town Book and record such material useful orders, as they find therein into this book and ye rest of ye old book to be cancelled by them.
At a meeting of ye inhabitants of the town of Barnstable June 1736 - Then voted that ye old Town Book as to ye articles contained in ye same to be of future use, be transcribed by ye Town Clerk into a new Book, to be procured by him with as much speed as conveniently may.

This 18th of Feb. 1658, at a meeting of Thomas Hinckley, Henry Cob, Isaac Robinson and Thomas Lothrop, for perusing ye old town book and recording such material, useful orders as they find therein into this Town Book cancelling ye rest according to an order bearing date Octr 15, 1649. In perusing whereof, they find as followeth, viz.
Imp, A grant of a great lot to Wm Dimock, &c, also an order bearing date 13th Jany 1641, Impouering Thomas Lothrop and Barnard Lumbarde to be Land Measurers, to lay out all ye lands which ye several Inhabitants are to have laid out and to bound them with stakes sufficient and to have 1d per acre for ye upland and 2d per acre for ye marsh ye parties whose land is to be laid out being to accompany ye measurers. Also, under date ye, 20th of 3d mo 1640 that no Inhabitant within this Plantation shall make sale of his house or any of his land, before he hath offered it to ye inhabitants and in case ye Plantation buy it, then to provide a purchaser whome ye town shall approve of and if ye Town do not provide a chapman in two months, he may sell to whome he will"
Also, an order bearing date ye 5th of January 1643 that ye Commons shall belong to ye present Inhabitants and to whom ye town shall see fitt, which Inhabitants then on record were as followeth on ye next Leafe of this book.
