This book is comprised of letters, memorials, and other documents written by Governor Bernard, General Gage, Commodore Hood, and the Commissioners of the American Board of Customs in 1768-69. These writings target the town of Boston and its inhabitants, making baseless accusations and malicious charges that the town is disaffected with the government in general. The documents reveal the insidious attempts of the author and his associates to slander not only Boston but the entire American continent. The author's strategy is to associate any opposition to the Board of Commissioners with defiance of the authority by which they were appointed, thereby falsely equating any local political sentiments to broader disloyalty to the Crown.
