Jane Trevor's collection Of Bellini's music, I found it full Of passages which the tenor singers now in vogue would find it next to impossible to master and going further back still, and taking up Rossini's Opera of Ricciardo e Zoraide, I discovered that it contained no less than three great tenor parts, the least important Of which would be beyond the strength of most of the tenors of the present day, whose powers of vocalization are so limited, that the orchestral accompaniment is generally made to play in unison with the voice every passage at all difficult of execution, so that the noise of the instruments effectually drowns any possible defect on the part of the Singer.
