MY acquaintance with Mr. Haddock began during his pastorate at Oshkosh, in 1865. I do not now remem ber his age at that time, nor how long he had been in the ministry; but he had not yet reached the acme of his power and effectiveness. He was regarded as a strong man, a growing man, with unusual ability as a public speaker, and with much promise for the future.
