There he stood in full sunlight, clutching the wood work with one very square brown hand his resolute lower lip thrust out his eyes screwed up against the glare so that they almost vanished under the thick straight line of his brows - a sufficiently engaging picture of half-nervous defiance to soften any heart but that of a brother who was simply enjoying the joke.
