On correcting the sheets for press, I am not aware of any remark that I should particularly wish to modify, with the exception of something that is said of Germany in the course of the article on 'goethe.' I have since become better acquainted with the great intellects of that nation; which has unquestionably produced the leading thinkers of the century. The world has yet to learn the extent of its obligations to such men as Goethe and Schiller, to Lessing, to Kant, to Herder, Richter, Fichte, and others.
