At the time Of which I write - date quite recent the whole of this ecclesiastical estate Of Cornborough' was in a most dilapidated condition. The church itself, an unsightly compound Of Norman and Early English architecture, with a square battlemented tower and common casement windows, owed what ever outward attractions it possessed to the ivy which covered it. The chief characteristics of the interior - dirt and damp, high pews and white washed walls, and the three-storied piece Of car pentry known as clerk's desk, reading-desk, and pulpit - are not so uncommon as to need minute description.
