The Rationalist has another alluring title for his system. He boasts that he is a Freethinker, and once again he would enshrine a persuasive argu ment in a word. For is not freedom man's most prized possession, and is not slavery the antithesis of freedom, and who in this century of emancipa tions can remain content to be a slave? Surely, then, Rationalism and Free-thought is the only possible intellectual attitude of a reasoning and reasonable man in these days of Liberty and Liberalism. There is a political argument in the mere word Liberalism, and for many there is a theological prejudice begotten by the very titles Rationalism and Free-thought. But what's in a name?
