Excerpt from The Premier, Vol. 3 of 3
Colonel Asper had lost no time in doing what he said he should, - seek his friend Charles, and explain away the language he had used, under an erroneous impression of his conduct. He intended to do more - disclose, in confidence, the discoveries he had made, relieve his mind from all anxiety as to the fate of Caroline, and discuss, with perfect openness of heart, the best means to prosper his love for her, which he was still determined should no longer remain concealed, either from their respective families, or the world.
