The dull world may deny this, and try to set up an impassable barrier between youth and manhood, in the name of its pet word, experience, as if the prosy sound must needs put all young enthusiasm to flight. We accept the word, but not in any disheartening sense, not allowing for a moment that wisdom im plies the death of any generous feeling. True, in deed, there is a time when we are tempted to lose our ideal in the actual, and perhaps think that a dull worldliness is the necessary cost of experience, - ready to say with Schiller.
