The Questions on the Experiments are intended to aid the student in under standing the work that he is doing in the laboratory and to make sure that he derives from the subject the mental traning which it ought to afford. The questions are in large part of such a character that, in order to answer them properly, the student not only must study the Notes on the Procedures, but also must giv to the questions some independent thought. It is assumed in these questi ons, as well as in the Notes on the Procedures, that the student has acquired, in his previous course on Inorganic Chemistry, a ge neral knowledge of the mass-action law and of the chemical aspects of the ionic theory.
