Ireland has a total area of square miles, or approximately acres, of which about are arable and the rest mountain, bog, and water. It is practically the size of the State of Maine, or slightly less than one-half the size of Missouri, or one third of Oregon. The population in 1911 was of whom were reported as engaged in agriculture as an occupation. This is 45 per cent of the total number engaged in occupations, not including housewives.
