Excerpt from America and England: A Study of the United States; Its Relations With Britain; Its Part in the Great War; And Its Future Influence
N the present work a threefold endeavour is made - to afford, first, a succinct (and it may be hoped interesting) description for the general reader of the topography, life and development of the United States, together with its history an account such as perhaps has not been readily accessible in this form; next, to discuss with some frankness Anglo American relations, whose better understanding is undoubtedly a present need and, finally, to arouse interest in a more con structive outlook on life on the part of America and England, which countries have been called to so prominent a place in the world's affairs. The author is aware of omissions, but space forbids extension.
