Many of these poems are familiar, as they are included in Warner's The Worlds Best Literature and other anthologies. Busy in other lines of literary work, Mrs. Bayne has neglected to make any collection of her poems. Her sons and daughter have gathered these from The New England Magazine, The Independent, The Youths Companion, St. Nicholas, Springfield Republican and Hartford Courant, into this little volume which they present to their mother as a birthday gift, knowing also that it will give pleasure to her many friends.
