Excerpt from The Working-Man's Way in the World: Being the Autobiography of a Journeyman Printer
I know; and that is,'that if what is here written and printed be not worth reading, nothing that can be said in apology will make it so. I might say, truly enough, that what I have written I have seen; but the question is, whether what I have seen and been in the course of my life is worth writing about? Of that the reader is perhaps the best judge. I ask but his candid consideration, and shall submit to his verdict, whatever it be with the best grace I may.
