In the treatment of Syntax, the book contains numer ous examples of inaccuracies in English, selected with a view to test the knowledge and exercise the ingenuity of the pupil. This part of Grammar, partly from the defect in our text-books, has not received, hitherto, that prominence which its importance demands.

As every pupil attending our Public Schools should have a fair mastery of English in writing, the elements of Composition have been introduced, and such suggestions given as will guide the teacher and aid the pupil.
