Excerpt from The Sun

It is a pleasure to mention here my indebtedness to those who have permitted the reproduction - very inadequate in some cases - oi photographs and drawings - namely to M. Deslandres of Meudon, Prof. G. E. Hale of Mount Wilson, the Royal Society, the Academy of Sciences of St Petersburg, the Royal Astronomical Society, the Carnegie Institution of Washington, the American Journal of Science, the Astrophysical Journal, and the Nautical Almanac. Without their courtesy, slight as the book may be, it would have been impossible to produce it.
