This is the second of four volumes of books designed to help the eager middle or high school student to Master Competition Mathematics. The problems in the book are curated from actual competition problems from various high school mathematics tournaments in Georgia from the years 1987 to 2022. Each chapter includes expository remarks, important problem-solving techniques, theorems, and formulas, with examples and exercises. These are follows by extensive problem sets in each chapter, divides into Junior Varsity and Varsity problems. This book contains 1209 problems in four chapters: 1) Counting, 2) Number Theory, 3) Probability, and 4) Numbers in Other Bases. Chapters 5 through 8 contain solutions to the problems.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Chuck Garner holds a Ph.D. in mathematics and has been a teacher since 1994. Since 2001, he teaches mathematics at the Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology, and since 2007 has taught Discrete Mathematics. He also sponsors the school's award-winning Math Team. He is a member of the American Mathematical Society, the Canadian Society for the History and Philosophy of Mathematics, the TeX Users Group, the Mathematical Association of America, the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and the Georgia Association of AP Math Teachers. He has served on the MAA Board of Governors, the MAA Congress, and the Georgia Department of Education's Math Advisory Council, as well as Vice-President and as Treasurer of GCTM, as Secretary-Treasurer of GAAPMT, and as the MAA representative to the Mu Alpha Theta Governing Council. He has received GCTM's Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching, the Dwight Love Award for Distinguished Contributions to Mathematics Education, the MIT Inspirational Teacher Award, the Stanford University Teacher Award, the Yale University Educator Award, GAAPMT's John Neff Award for Outstanding Contributions to AP Mathematics, the MAA's Edyth May Sliffe Award for Distinguished Mathematics Teaching, and the Gladys M.
