‘Nestled quietly by the railway and the river, in the Showman's Yard, a treasure trove can be found … but only by those who really look, and really listen.'

Follow Mary Ann and her travelling Showmen family as they defend their yard from developers. The generations work together to help everyone understand that Grandad Henry is right: ‘not all treasure glistens'.

Written by Michelle Russell, whose family spans several generations within the Showman community, as well as Richard O'Neill, a Traditional Travelling person, and reviewed by the children and teachers of Thorntree Primary School, Glasgow, as well as Christine Stirling from The Showmen's Guild, this story highlights some of the problems a travelling Showmen community can sometimes face.

Beautifully illustrated by Mitch Miller, also from a travelling Showmen background, no one will be left in any doubt that Showpeople shouldn't and can't be brushed aside.

'I would recommend this as a book that brings Showpeople and their lifestyle alive'. Valerie Moody (MBE), National Education Liaison Officer for The Showmen's Guild of Great Britain

This book is part of the Bug Club Independent Lime Plus series, which gives high attaining children age-appropriate fiction and non-fiction stories to help them to work at greater depth.
