'This thesis represents an effort on the part of the author to make application of the laws of learning to the teaching of elementary school children. With this idea in mind I have stated each law in its accepted manner, following after Throndike, and formulated in proximity to each law some teaching situations which illustrate its operation, some violations of its application in current and frequent use and some of the pedagogical considerations which I deduce from its statements and applications. No attempt has been made to include in this thesis all the possible teaching situations to which each of the laws apply or enumerate all of the violations in frequent use or to state all of the pedagogical considerations to be derived from the statement and application of the laws.
