WHELPS fed on Carrion, 8$c.--Being in conversation with a friend, an enlightened sportsman, during the time that the latter part of this volume was printing; he observed, he knew it was the opinion of most or all writers, that whelps fed on high provisions, such as carrion, &c. were generally worse afflicted with the distemper than those sustained on simple, light food; but, that he was inclined to doubt it; moreover, he remarked, he was confident that feeding on carrion did not injure a dog's sense of smelling, though this was equally maintained.
