Subject: Divine Grace to aid.--If we really desire to grow in grace and to be very happy and to live a truly spiritual life, let us recollect that we can no more do this without using the means of grace which God has seen fit to provide; than we can be strong in our bodies without taking food from time to time. And it is just as great an insult to God to expect to grow in grace witheut the use of God's means of grace as it would be to expect health and strength of body without using the means which Ho has given us for these purposes. It is not our duty to say that we can do without any one thing which is appointed by Christ for our use. It is irreverent and presumptuous to say that any one means of gTace is of no value to us. Amongst the means of grace consider scripture teaching concerning the following--Your Baptism.--Rom. vi. 4; Col. ii. 12; i Pet. iii. 21; Gal. iii. 27.
