Excerpt: ... relief from such society, either on account of sickness, age, or infirmity, testified respectively under their hands; nor shall the stock be divisible in. any other mode than for the general purposes of the society. All the rules, orders, and regulations of the society are to be entered in a book, to be kept by one or more members appointed for that purpose, and signed by them, which at all seasons and times shall be open for inspection; and such rules and orders shall be received in evidence in all disputes and trials, before any court in this kingdom. Societies may receive donations towards the supply of their stock or fund, which shall be applicable to the general purposes of the society. Where parties think themselves aggrieved, any two magistrates of the place where the society is held may issue their summons to any of the principal officers of such society to appear before them, and determine, in a summary way, according to the regulations of such society, and make such order as they may deem just; such order to be final: and where, by the general rule, matters in dispute are to be settled by arbitration, the award of the arbritators shall be conclusive. No member of a society, on producing a certificate under the hands of the proper officers, and attested by two credible witnesses, shall be removeable until actually chargeable to a parish. Certificates are to express the places of abode of the persons signing and attesting them; and one of the witnesses shall make oath before a justice of the peace J? 3 where where Such society shall be established, that he saw the persons subscribe their names; the oath shall also be certified by the said justice, and the same shall be allowed as evidence in all courts.
