But the two Dr. As.A..s were of another Sentiment: With Them the Rights of the Parochial Ministers were sacred; and This, amongOthers, was One of them. So that inTheir Judgment a Lecturer of the Parish-Church, chosen by" the Parish, approved of and admitted by the Minister, licensed by the Bishop, and having been «nany Years in Possession, might be turned out by a New Minister, at his arbitrary Will and Pleasure, and That1 too, though he had for a considerable time continued Lecturer even under the new Minister, and so might be presumed to have his tacit Consent. But This was some time ago; and the Circumstances of Persons and Things may be since altered. Now, in the Judgment of the felf-same Persons, both Father and Son, a New Chapel may be erected in a Parish, and Persons nominated to officiate in it, not only without' the Minister's Leave, but in direct Opposition to him. Who began This Contest is well known; and consequently upon whom the Scandal of it, the Mischief it may do to Religion and the Church, and the Sport it will make for Sectaries and Atheists, ought in reason to be charged, is well known too.
