Excerpt: ...prefented a Writirtg to the Houfe, intitled, The City of Lon-The humble and thankful Acknowledgment of the Jen refolve to Lord Mayor, Aldermen, and Commons of the City of fupport the Par-London; giving Thanks to the Parliament for their Gift of Richmond New Park to the City; and that they do declare and refolve, (thro' God's Affiftance), with the Hazard of their Lives and Eftates, to ftand and fall with the Parliament againft all wicked Practices and oppofite pretended Powers whatfoevef. Which being read, the faid Aldermen were again called in, and the Speaker, in the Name of the Houfe, returned them Thanks. The King's April 9. This Day the Houfe. refolved that the Arms ordered to Arms f he lat £ flld be taken down;„ a,i be taken down in _.-.,. 9,. „.. all Churches, ohips of, and belonging to, this Commonwealth; ships, &c. as alfo of all Merchants or others inhabiting within the fame; and that the Admirals at Sea be required to fee the fame done accordingly. Alfo that all Juflices of the Peace in the refpective Counties, and all other public Magiftrates and Officers, Churchwardens, and Wardens of Companies, be authoriz'd and requir'd to caufe the Arms of the late King to be taken down and defaced in all Churches, Chapels, and all other public Places within England, Wales, and the Town of 'Berwick. This Order to be forthwith printed and publifhed; and, confonant to it, the King's Arms were taken down every where, and the States Arms put up in their Stead. April12. The Houfe having received a Lettef from Col. Havfon, Governor of Dublin, with Advice of the Surrender of the City and Caftle of Kilkenny furreft-Kilkenny, in Ireland, the Speaker was ordered to "c ' write him a Letter of Thanks, as an Acknow ledgment of his good Services...
