Whereas the Episcopal Church In Scotland, as a branch of the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church of Christ, inviolably retains in the Sacred Ministry the Three Orders of Bishops, Priests, and Deacons, as of Divine Institution, it is enacted that, according to the Apostolic Canon, a Bishop be consecrated by two or three Bishops--by not fewer than three in all ordinary cases--and that Priests and Deacons be ordained by one Bishop; the right of consecration and ordination belonging to the order of Bishops only. 2. No person shall be consecrated a Bishop of this Church before he hath completed the thirtieth year of his age, nor without the consent and approbation of the majority of the Bishops. CANON II. @f the (Election anb ©ffice of the primus. 1. A Primus shall be chosen by the Bishops out of their own number, by a majority of the Diocesan Bishops of this Church, without their being bound either by seniority of consecration or by precedency of Diocese. 2. The Bishops shall, by transmitting to him a Deed of Nomination (according to Appendix No. I.), induct into the office of Primus the Bishop so elected. B 3. The Primus shall preside at all Meetings of the College of Bishops at which he may be present, but shall have no power or prerogative, except what is expressly conveyed to him by these Canons. 4. When the Primus is not present, the Bishop senior by consecration present shall preside and act in his place. 5. On the occurrence of a vacancy in the office of Primus, the Bishop senior by consecration shall immediately acquire and exercise the powers and prerogatives attached to that office, until a majority of the Bishops shall have appointed a s...
