The unquestionably good character of the defendant, previous to this offence, and his distinguished and valuable services during the war as an officer. 2. The money obtained by the false pretence, whereof the defendant is charged, has since been returned. 3. The defendant has a large family dependent upon his support. 4. The health of defendant, much impaired by his services in the field during the war, will probably be entirely destroyed by his confinement. 5. Many reputable and well known citizens of the community wherein the defendant lives and acquainted with the case and all its circumstances, earnestly ask his pardon. 2. James Hasson.
