Books of Reference, Philology, Fine Arts, Theology, English Literature, Hebraica, Greek and Latin Classics, Hippology, Agriculture and Botany, Archaeology, Science, Mathematics and other subjects are fully represented. As has been mentioned in the Introduction, Mr. Barrow was a busy man, so that the quality aud size of his collection is indicative of the eagerness and persistence of his search. Germany, England, France and America, were only some of the f1elds of his researches. However as in the feast we have mentioned, the kindest thing to our guests is not to keep them longer waiting, we will let the viands appear; only, like a host proud of his chef let us call attention to some of the especial dainties, that they may be partaken of with keener relish. Perhaps the most complete department in the collection is that of Oriental Languages and Judaica, while Philology, Mathematics, Arts and Archaeology, the Bible and Parts Thereof, crowd closely upon it. Let us call particular attention to the varieties in the order in which they appear: I. Catalogues, D1ct1onar1es, etc.: Loudon's'Architectural Magazine," famous Peter Bayle and his Historical and Critical Dictionary. "Bibliotheca Diabolica", containing the greatest collection of works relating to the Devil and all his whereabouts ever offered for sale, a presentation copy to Mr. Barrow from Mr. Kernot, the compiler, arrests the attention. The well known Latham-Johnson Dictionary, four volumes, half russia, trying to appear more learned than "Littré's" French one which has one more volume; Hamerton's "Portfolio"; Weigel and Zestermann's magnificent work on Early Illustrating, 2 volumes, folio, ending the section.
