Is that the 'first effort of the kind that has been made?--Yes, so far as I know. Q. Hitherto you have proceedod in rather a slow and old fashioned method?--I think wo keep up with all the improvements in fishing. Q. Your object in combining is to bring together a large amount of capital, use improved vessels and other appliances?--Yes. Q. You would send the fish over the Intercolonial Itaihvay?--Yes. Q. Then wo would have some freights oven without coal in return for oor produce?--Yes; but if you had coal the trade would be very much larger. Q. Are you prepared to adopt a retaliatory tariff with the United States?--Yes. Q. You would be prepared to put a duty of $1.20 to $1.25 on flour?--Yes; I believe it would be in the interests of the Dominion to have tho same tariff as the United States. By Mr. Goudge:--Q.
