These two major developments are considered in relation to the guidance and counselling movement whose impact on education over the preceding twenty-five years was considerable. The concept of person-centred learning grew out of this movement and with it many of the liberalising changes in education. This is a fascinating look at this area from a time when the whole nature and direction of schooling in the UK was about to change.
