Are you willing to be saved from your sins, by a sincere repentance towards God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ? Indeed, the truly penitent sinner is the great characteristic on which God delights to look upon. And He says for our encouragement, "Look unto mo, and be ye saved all ye ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is none else, a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me." And again, "Come now and let us reason together; though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they be red like crnrsrji', they shall be as wool: and I will purely purge:i'.':'..y thy dross, and take away all thy tin:" and "Behold,I lay inZion for a foundation, a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation; he that believeth shall not make haste," or be confounded, and the Holy Saviour himself says, "Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest: ask, and it shall be given you: seek, and ye shall find: knock and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh (in faith) receiveth; and he that seeketh (with all his heart) findeth; and to him that knocketh (importunately) it shall be opened." These quotations from the written word, are not a thousandth part of what I might bring forward, as proofs of the Divine willingness to save; yet I think they arc quite sufficient, in the present instance, to create in you an earnest solicitude, to seek the Lord while he may be found, and to call upon him while he is near: a sufficient guarantee also, from the Eternal himself, that if you seek him with your whole heart, he will be found of you...
