Inhaltsangabe

Sabotage (1918) is a book written by Emile Pouget, a French socialist and anarcho-syndicalist. The book is a treatise on the concept of sabotage, which is defined as a deliberate and systematic attempt to disrupt or undermine the functioning of an organization or system. Pouget argues that sabotage is a legitimate and effective form of direct action for workers to use in their struggle against capitalism and exploitation. The book begins with an overview of the history of sabotage, tracing its roots back to the early days of industrialization and the emergence of the factory system. Pouget then goes on to discuss the various forms of sabotage, including slowdowns, work-to-rule, destruction of property, and even violence. He argues that these tactics are not only effective in disrupting the capitalist system, but also serve to empower workers and build solidarity among them.Throughout the book, Pouget also addresses the various criticisms and objections to sabotage, including the argument that it is unethical or that it harms innocent bystanders. He counters these arguments by emphasizing the importance of the workers’ struggle for justice and the need to use all available means to achieve their goals.Overall, Sabotage (1918) is a passionate and persuasive call to arms for workers to use sabotage as a tool in their fight against exploitation and oppression. While some of the specific tactics and examples may be dated, the book remains a classic of anarchist and labor literature, and a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history and theory of direct action. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Reseña del editor

The national convention of theS ociaH stP arty of America in 1912 included in the party constitution the now famous Section Six, providing that any member who opposes political action or advocates crime, sabotage or other methods of violence as a weapon of the working class to aid in its emancipation, shall be expelled from membership in the party. By a referendum vote the party decided to strike out the clause in which the word sabotage appears. Unfortunately, the clause as presented by the convention was adopted at the same time. The meaning of this is simply that a majority of the membership was confused over the whole question and did not knovy how to vote. The enforcement of the clause is in the hands of the separate locals, and the discussion of the subject is marked by heat rather than light.
