The following treatise is prepared, primarily, for the use of student teachers in Professional Training Schools, and is intended to be introductory and accessory to the class-room work and to the reading of educational text-books. An effort has also been made to render the treatment sufficiently elementary, sequential and complete to enable the reader, without assistance, to gain a practical working knowledge of the solution of the fundamental problems of Education.
