Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Alison E. Cooley is Professor in Classics and Ancient History at the University of Warwick. She has published extensively on topics relating to Roman epigraphy and the politics of early imperial Rome. Her books include an edition and commentary on the Res Gestae divi Augusti (Cambridge, 2009) and The Cambridge Manual of Latin Epigraphy (Cambridge, 2012).

This new edition, with translation and commentary, sets the text within its contemporary context, considering it alongside other texts (including Tacitus' Annales), coins, and monuments, focusing upon the development of Tiberian political discourse. It explores how contemporary observers (including Valerius Maximus and Velleius Paterculus) understood and contributed to the shaping of dynastic rule at Rome after the death of Augustus in AD 14.
