Learning that their father had been critically shot, nineteen year old Katherine and her twenty one year old brother Danny were able to join a wagon train to Seattle to be with their folks. HIring a guide to get them there faster, they left the wagon train to go with the guide through dangerous Sentinel Pass. Danny broke a leg in a fall over a cliff and the guide abandoned them on the blizzard filled pass, leaving them to die.
