Like most of us, Gregory Marshall has no credentials or expertise of any kind in religious studies. He's a retired lawyer trained in analytical thinking and writing skills who was a devout "believer" until he was about 17, then stopped being a "believer" (and never started up again). He just decided, at the age of 67, to read the Bible as an exercise. He found the Bible to be absurdly convoluted and impossible to actually read, which was (he thought) beyond amazing – given the place the Bible occupies in Western (and human) history. So, he decided to summarize it for himself like a student taking notes – with an academic and analytical interest, but no "expertise," no bias other than that I don’t "believe." What he ended up with was this book The Bible Tells Me So... an easy to read and understand summary of the Holy Bible.
