Man trouble undermined her dreams and in the end, only the devious manipulations of her familiar, the Cat, gave her any chance of escape, but even Cat could not prevent her anguished change from a scorned woman into a vengeful lunatic ruthlessly bent on revenge on her lover and the entire world. This included lord of the manor, Sir James Hawkney, plus Cedricke the Executioner and the witchfinder, Hubert Crowe.Today Cat is running out of time to stop her turning her attentions to the rest of the world. It was difficult enough without the rules of Magick creating infuriating stumbling blocks.Then there’s the frustration of Norman, whose powers are enormous but cannot be used because he doesn’t believe in them and the only available teachers are led by a kleptominiac and a dispsomaniac. Puny efforts at support by spirits from a thousand years back only caused even more upset - and that was before Norman found himself himself flying out of his second floor office window over the town’s traffic and into a local reservoir.They tried a seance. it was another mistake because it scared the wits out everybody, especially as Darline is almost certainly ready to annihilate the lot.And all the time Cat flies off invisibly only to reappear again working against all odds to manoeuvre his bemused misfits into a united force, even organising a rest period on some handy fluffy clouds.Call Me Stranger is an exercise in escapism offering delight through suspension of reality.
