Welcome to the Project Management Performance Excellence master-level course. Globally accepted program and project management methodology plus very best practices are tailored to help the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, an agency of the United States Department of the Navy, deliver its unique mission of providing medical and health care services to more than one million eligible beneficiaries. Knowledge gained from this course is directly transferable to projects and programs that emerge during the integration of Navy Medicine into the Defense Health Agency (DHA). Post integration into the DHA, maturing the program and project management culture at the practitioner level fosters smarter and more efficient use of resources while creating opportunity having tangible benefits including the extraction of direct and indirect costs from processes essential to sustaining a medically ready force.This five, full-day course focuses learnings that can be applied immediately to each participant’s current role within Navy, Marine, Army, Air Force, or DHA organization. Relevant exercises enable participant engagement, cross-pollination of perspectives, as well as sharing of proficiencies gained through peacetime and wartime challenges.This course is targeted to medical and health personnel regardless of rank, title, or organizational situation. It is appropriate for individuals seeking to increase capacity for driving mission critical, complex, or risk-inherent programs and projects where strategic assets are at stake. This course is highly beneficial to motivated individuals preparing for any certification exam granted by the Project Management Institute (PMI®); primarily the Project Management Professional (PMP®), the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®), and Program Management Professional (PgMP®) certification exams.This course is designed to heighten understanding of key aspects of the global project management standard established by the Project Management Institute (PMI®) essential to inspiring, leading, and transforming an emergent project management culture within a high-performing military medical and healthcare environment. Leading strategic or risk-inherent programs and projects is challenging even for accomplished program and project managers. An opportunistic-centric perspective is presented for managing through a demanding start-to-finish encounter with confidence using visually pertinent, adaptive, and tailored content and dialog.This course is aligned with “A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) sixth edition” and structured for rapid understanding of project management best practices from a holistic viewpoint. The course framework and context are structured in hierarchical manner and conveyed from a K.I.R.A.S. (keep it real and straight-forward) approach. Multiple choice exams will be given to reinforce content presented, thereby contributing to understanding best practices needed for leading and coaching direct reports.Instruction encompasses proprietary models and exercises for immediate use as a program or project management practitioner as well as for career development. Content is reinforced by examples (illustrating both good and not-so-good outcomes) from real projects led by the instructor. Objective is to drive home the importance of diversity of perspectives crucial to successfully leading and managing portfolios, sub-portfolios, programs, subprograms, and enterprise as well as region-level emergent, compliance, process improvement, operations, and maintenance projects. Proven strategies and techniques used by instructor to pass the PgMP®, PMP® as well as the PMI-RMP® certification examinations on each first exam attempt will be applied.
