Glass Roots - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

Unflinching and evocative, Brook Carter’s “Glass Roots” is a powerful debut work that celebrates identity in a world that tries to silence it. From family life to sexuality to mental health, Carter has a way of drawing monsters out from their hiding spots and forcing them to confess. Through this self-portrait, “Glass Roots” reminds the reader of the necessity of memory, how essential it is to preserve our own personal histories in order to find growth. Indeed, our past acts as invisible roots, and this work nourishes pain into potential, despair into dreams, heartbreak into hope. In “Glass Roots,” Carter walks into Hell and stares down every demon that challenges her. She walks into darkness trusting her own path. She shamelessly stares at the sun, waiting for it to blink first.
