Inhaltsangabe

My mother suffered brain damage in an automobile accident when I was approximately three years old. She had to re-learn everything. I remember as a child, my mom telling me she had brain damage, but I didn’t really see it. As I look at my first grandbaby, who is now in that age range, I realize how clueless I was about the whole situation until my father passed away in 2009. "She Made A Difference, Anyway" is my first book and is composed of stories of memories of my clueless childhood and how I finally started recognizing the fight my mother was fighting. Some of the accounts are humorous and some serious. It demonstrates how essential faith and a sense of humor was and how it kept us all going. She overcame so many obstacles and inspired so many people, including me. "She Made a Difference...Anyway!" is a tribute to my mom. I plan to present my first published copy of my book to her along with a scrapbook full of letters and labeled pictures collected from several people she inspired. With dementia, I hope this book will serve as a reminder for my mom during her bad days and the good ones. As things worsen due to her recent diagnosis of vascular dementia adding to her dementia from the traumatic brain Injury, her doctor declared it unsafe for her to live alone and her driving privileges have been taken away. Incredibly and miraculously, she still can read and dominates the game of dominoes! Our children and grandchildren can benefit from this book as well in learning about her fight and know they can achieve anything if they want it bad enough. She did, even with dementia. She made a difference, anyway. All future generations could benefit from her determination and faith shown in this book.My husband, Alan, my boss, Pat Hill, and my editor/publisher, Chris McCarthy all encouraged me to write this book. Chris McCarthy gave me the opportunity to practice writing by doing articles for The Messenger in Gadsden for almost three years. I will forever be grateful. All three proofread my book.In addition to writing articles for The Messenger, I have written for The Gadsden Times and newsletters for Chambers Academy, where I was a Jr. High Science Teacher for 13 years. To achieve a master’s degree in education, writing became a part of my life for what seemed like an eternity. Writing this book has been a joy and an honor. My prayer is that She Made a "Difference… Anyway" blesses my mother and everyone who reads it.
