J.R. Marshall was born in Sudbury, Ontario, in June of 1995, a lively city surrounded by nature's beauty in Northern Ontario. This early period was filled with memorable moments that shaped his early years, but when his father and stepmother relocated to Sault Ste. Marie, a new chapter began for the family. In Sault Ste. Marie, J.R. attended several elementary schools that have since closed their doors, such as William Merrifield and St. Theresa. Additionally, he had the chance to be a part of the community at Parkland and Our Lady of Lourdes, institutions that continue to serve future generations. Each school contributed to his development, introducing him to various friends and influential educators. Before long, just after his 10th birthday, the family made another significant move to Elliot Lake, Ontario. This small, close-knit community became the backdrop for J.R.'s adolescence, allowing him to forge lasting friendships and immerse himself in the picturesque landscape that would continue to tug at his heartstrings well into adulthood. After his adventures in the north, J.R. embarked on a remarkable journey with the Royal Canadian Navy, a career that took him far and wide across the nation, sparking the desire to write more novels published as ebooks. It was during his time in the Navy that he met his fiancée, a serendipitous encounter that would lead them back to their roots in Ontario. Currently, J.R. resides in a suburban area near Toronto, yet his heart and soul remain deeply connected to the rural north he holds dear. His experiences include cherished visits to Silverwater on Manitoulin Island and treasured moments on St. Joseph and Pine Island. These places are etched into his identity, symbolizing the cultural richness and natural splendour of the north. Moreover, his family ties to Wikwemikong and Serpent River have played a significant role in shaping his understanding of cultural heritage. Engaging with many elders from these communities, J.R. has been fortunate to receive invaluable wisdom and teachings that have informed his perspective on life.
