The application areas covered include HR scorecards, HR cost analysis with respect to benefits and impact, workforce segmentation, analysis of appraisal data, conducting surveys and analyzing HR survey data, improving training and development and hiring processes using relevant metrics and hypothesis testing, designing forecasting and predictive models for attrition and performance, designing tests for selection, root cause analysis of HR problems and putting into practice frameworks like LAMP and HCM 21.

This book would be useful to students of human resource management. It would also serve as a handy resource for practicing human resource professionals, executives and managers, as well as data science professionals working in the HR domain.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Anindya Basu Roy is a B.Tech (Hons) graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. Subsequently, he did his MBA from the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (affiliated with Calcutta University) and his PhD in Management from WBUT. His thesis was related to the mapping of managerial competencies for the IT sector and developing a psychometric tool for assessing the competencies mapped. He has over 13 years of work experience in Engineering, Management and Consultancy, both in India and the United States – mostly working for the HCL Group. For the last 25 years, he has been working as an Organizational Development Consultant in South Asia. He has authored and presented several papers related to HRM at various HR forums and symposiums and has a few publications to his credit. He, along with Professor Sumati Ray, authored a book titled Competency Based Human Resource Management, which was published by Routledge, in February 2025 in the UK.

He is also an adjunct professor of HR Analytics for the MHRM and MBA courses at IISWBM and the PGCBA course at XLRI.

Sumati Ray holds an MSc in Applied Psychology from University of Calcutta. Subsequently, she did her PhD in Applied Psychology from Calcutta University. She started her career with the Institute of Psychometry in Kolkata, where she eventually became the Joint Director for Research and Development. She subsequently switched to academics and joined the Indian Institute of Social Welfare and Business Management (IISWBM). There she has worn multiple hats by working as a professor for MBA (Day), subsequently for MHRM, and even heading MHRM. As an academician, apart from teaching, she has presented papers at different national and international conferences and published papers in different peer-reviewed journals. Besides, she has been regularly supervising students in their PhD theses. Apart from teaching and research, she carries out HR consultancy work for a large number of organizations, including private, public sector enterprises and government bodies.
