Wire-Drawing and the Cold Working of Steel

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'Wire-Drawing and the Cold Working of Steel' provides a comprehensive technical examination of the metallurgical processes involved in the industrial production of steel wire. This work delves into the intricate science of cold working, exploring how mechanical deformation at room temperature alters the physical and structural properties of steel. The text covers essential topics such as the principles of wire-drawing, the effects of heat treatment, and the specific characteristics of different steel alloys when subjected to cold-working stresses. Detailed and systematic, the book serves as a vital resource for understanding early 20th-century advancements in materials science and manufacturing. It includes discussions on the machinery used in drawing, the preparation of materials, and the rigorous testing required to ensure the quality and durability of the finished product.Whether for the engineer, the metallurgist, or the historian of industrial technology, 'Wire-Drawing and the Cold Working of Steel' offers an invaluable perspective on the evolution of steel processing techniques that remain foundational to modern engineering and construction. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
