The Parachor and Valency

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'The Parachor and Valency' is a foundational text in the field of physical chemistry, focusing on the intricate relationship between molecular volume and surface tension. Written by chemist Samuel Sugden, this work introduces and explores the concept of the parachor-a comparative measure that allows scientists to deduce the chemical structure of liquids based on their physical properties. The book provides a detailed analysis of how the parachor can be used to investigate problems of valency and atomic arrangement within molecules. By examining the additive nature of atomic and structural constants, Sugden offers a systematic approach to understanding the forces at play in chemical bonding. The text covers topics such as the influence of temperature, the properties of mixtures, and the application of these theories to various organic and inorganic compounds. This treatise remains a significant historical contribution to molecular science, bridging the gap between classical physics and modern chemical theory. 'The Parachor and Valency' is an essential resource for researchers and students interested in the history of science and the development of structural chemistry in the early 20th century. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
