Kant's Conception of God : A Critical Exposition of Its Metaphysical Development

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'Kant's Conception of God; A Critical Exposition of Its Metaphysical Development' offers a rigorous and comprehensive examination of how one of history's most influential philosophers approached the ultimate question of the divine. Frederick Ernest England provides a detailed roadmap of the evolution of Immanuel Kant's thought, tracing his journey from his early pre-Critical attempts to establish traditional metaphysical proofs to the revolutionary moral arguments presented in his later, defining works. This scholarly study delves into the inherent tensions between Kant's epistemology and his theology, analyzing how the 'Critique of Pure Reason' dismantled standard ontological and cosmological arguments while simultaneously carving out a space for faith through practical reason. England explores the intricacies of Kant's 'transcendental ideal' and the role of God as a necessary postulate for morality and the realization of the highest good. By focusing on the metaphysical underpinnings of these conceptual shifts, the author offers readers a clear path through the complexities of German Idealism and its profound relationship with religious thought.Essential for students of philosophy, theology, and intellectual history, this work clarifies the impact Kant had on the philosophy of religion. It highlights the enduring relevance of his search for a rational basis for belief in an age of enlightenment and skepticism. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
