Jesus and Judas : A Textual and Historical Investigation

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'Jesus and Judas, a Textual and Historical Investigation' is a rigorous academic examination of one of the most infamous relationships in religious history. Written by the renowned rationalist scholar J. M. Robertson, this work delves deep into the textual foundations of the New Testament to explore the historical reality behind the figures of Jesus and Judas Iscariot. Robertson applies a critical lens to the Gospel narratives, questioning the traditional accounts of betrayal and looking for the roots of these stories in ancient ritual, myth, and earlier textual traditions. The book meticulously analyzes the inconsistencies and developments within the biblical texts, arguing that much of the Judas narrative may be symbolic or mythological rather than strictly historical. By dissecting the linguistic and historical context of the period, Robertson offers a provocative challenge to orthodox interpretations. This investigation is essential reading for students of biblical criticism, religious history, and those interested in the evolution of early Christian dogma. 'Jesus and Judas, a Textual and Historical Investigation' stands as a significant contribution to the field of secular biblical studies, providing a scholarly framework for understanding the complex interplay between history and legend in the formation of the Christian tradition. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
