Indications of Source for the Accounts of the Last Supper as Given by the Synoptists and by St. Paul

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'Indications of Source for the Accounts of the Last Supper as Given by the Synoptists and by St. Paul' is a rigorous scholarly examination of the textual origins and theological intersections regarding one of the most significant events in the New Testament. Charles Porter Coffin meticulously explores the narrative structures and linguistic cues within the Synoptic Gospels-Matthew, Mark, and Luke-alongside the testimonial evidence provided by St. Paul in his epistles. By analyzing the source indications, Coffin seeks to identify the shared oral or written traditions that informed these diverse yet overlapping accounts of the institution of the Eucharist. This work serves as an essential resource for students of biblical criticism, theology, and historical liturgy. It delves into the nuances of source theory, questioning how early Christian communities preserved and interpreted the memory of the Last Supper. The study provides a clear, methodical approach to understanding the development of early Christian scripture and the relationship between the apostolic tradition and the written Gospel record. Readers interested in the historical-critical method and the foundations of Christian practice will find this analysis both insightful and authoritative. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
