The Fourth Evangelist : Dramatist or Historian?

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - In 'The Fourth Evangelist: Dramatist or Historian ', R. H. Strachan provides a profound and scholarly investigation into the nature and purpose of the Gospel of John. This work addresses one of the most enduring questions in New Testament studies: should the Fourth Evangelist be regarded primarily as a creative literary artist who shaped his narrative for theological effect, or as a faithful historian documenting the life and ministry of Jesus Christ Strachan meticulously explores the unique structure, style, and perspective of the Johannine narrative, contrasting it with the Synoptic Gospels. He delves into the theological motivations behind the author's choice of material and the dramatic quality of the dialogues and discourses found within the text. By examining the evangelist's methodology, Strachan seeks to uncover the spiritual truth that the author intended to convey to his audience, bridging the gap between historical fact and religious interpretation. This volume remains a significant contribution to biblical criticism, offering valuable insights for scholars, theologians, and students of the New Testament. 'The Fourth Evangelist: Dramatist or Historian ' is an essential read for anyone interested in the literary complexities and historical foundations of Christian scripture, providing a balanced and thoughtful perspective on the identity and intent of one of the early church's most influential writers. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
