Ecclesiastical Sepulture in the New Code of Canon Law

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'Ecclesiastical Sepulture in the New Code of Canon Law' is a meticulous legal and theological examination of the regulations surrounding Christian burial as established in the 1917 Code of Canon Law. Authored by Rev. John Anthony O'Reilly, this scholarly work provides a comprehensive analysis of the rights, obligations, and liturgical requirements pertaining to the interment of the faithful within the Catholic tradition. The text explores the definition of ecclesiastical sepulture, the selection of burial sites, and the specific canonical privileges afforded to various members of the clergy and laity. It addresses critical questions of jurisdiction, the consecration of cemeteries, and the legal circumstances under which ecclesiastical burial is granted or withheld. By interpreting the shift from older disciplines to the then-new codification, the author offers essential insights into the evolution of Church policy regarding the final disposition of the body.Ideal for canon lawyers, historians of religious law, and theologians, this treatise clarifies the intersection of faith and jurisprudence. It remains a significant historical reference for understanding how the Church structured its pastoral and legal care for the deceased, ensuring that the dignity of the funeral rite was maintained according to universal ecclesiastical law. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
